Adventist HealthCare is hiring a Chemical Dependency Counselor (CD) who will provide quality therapeutic care to clients that are assigned to the specific unit/department. Therapeutic care includes: Conducting Chemical Dependency assessments, conducting individual, group and family therapy sessions, participating in the interdisciplinary treatment and transition and discharge process. Competent in ASAM criteria and levels of care for chemical dependency patients. Under the direction and supervision of the CD Program Manager the Chemical Dependency (CD) counselor at Adventist Behavior Health and Wellness Services (ABHWS) is responsible for providing quality therapeutic services to patients to better cope with their cycle of addiction. CD counselor provides educational groups, 1:1 counseling, family education and assists patients with developing a recovery management plan for long-term abstinence.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
•Initiates and implements complete, comprehensive psycho-social assessments
•Provides individual, group, and family therapies to clients and their families
•Participates in and interdisciplinary treatment team to propose and develop strategies and interventions that would promote excellent therapeutic outcomes
•Assesses and intervenes in cases of suspected/disclosed child/adult neglect/abuse issues Documents services provided and disseminates information/reports to community referral sources and agencies, i.e., DJJ, DSS, HHS, APS, CPS, LCC, etc
•Co-Ordinates with the interdisciplinary team, referral sources, and community resources aftercare and supportive services to ensure a successful discharge planning process. Promotes positive patient-family-community relations
•Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to diffuse psychotic and/or behavioral crises to ensure client, unit, and staff safety an stability

Requirements:
•BS in Human Service Field with CAC/CSC Certification
•MA/MS in Counseling/Social Work with License
•Minimum CAC-AD required, LGPC/LMSW or LCPC/LCSW-C preferred
•Excellent Written and Verbal Skills Required
•Exceptional Conflict Resolution, Crisis Management, and Time Management Skills
•Ability to Maintain Self-Control in Volatile/Hostile Situations, e.g., When Being Verbally and/or Physically Confronted by a Client or Family Member
•Ability to Set Therapeutic Limits and Maintain Therapeutic Distance with Clients
•Clinical license and/or certification are in good standing with the Board of MD
•Record accurate documentation in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
•Represent ABHWS at meetings or committees as required by manager
