The Lourie Center for Children's Social & Emotional Wellness is a private, non-profit agency with a mission to improve the social and emotional health of young children and their families through prevention, early intervention, education, research and training. The Lourie Center has four core programs serving children birth through age 12 and their families: Head Start, The Lourie Center School, The Therapeutic Nursery Program and Parent-Child Clinical Services.

The Teachers Aide:
• Works closely with the TNP lead teacher in the development and preparation of materials needed for classroom use.
• Provide individual and small group instruction to children.
• Assists the lead teacher in the implementation of therapeutic strategies for the children in the program.
• Supports children in the classroom who may be in crisis. Provides physical support, utilizing Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), including the Children's Control Position, when safety risks arise.
• Accompanies the van driver and children who are transported from their homes or daycares to TNP at the start of the day, providing regulation and support.
• Able to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and participates in reflective supervision.
• Assists in the preparation and clean-up of the classroom as per the needs of the curricular task and the needs of the children in the program.
• Participates in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Continues professional education in early childhood education or a related discipline by attending internal and external workshops, conferences and trainings.
• Maintain professional boundaries with children, families, and colleagues.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the lead teacher and program director. In the teacher's absence, the teacher aide may assume the role and responsibility of the lead teacher as discussed in advance.

Qualified candidates will possess:
Bachelor's degree in education, child development, psychology or other related discipline.
Basic knowledge of child development issues is required.
Active BLS CPR card

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 40 hours each week.
