Bioinformatics Specialist
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or Ph.D. Degree (in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics) Equivalent Experience preferred.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in applying statistical and computational methods to the analysis and visualization of complex genomics data. Title and salary levels depend on the experience.
Preferred education experience and skills:
- Bioinformatics, molecular Biology, genetics, epigenetics, biostatistics, computer science
- Extensive knowledge of analytic methods
- Experience with multiple genomic data types, such as RNA-seq, Exome-seq, single cell RNA-seq, etc.
- Experience with genomic data integration and data mining
- Proficient in R/Bioconductor or Python programming
- Experience working with NGS data, such as Illumina Hiseq/miSeq and PacBio SMRT sequencing
- Familiar with at least one programming languages, such as R/Perl/Python/JAVA/C++ with R or Python preferred
- Familiar with Biological databases, such as GEO and TCGA
- Familiar with open source and commercial software tools for genomic data analysis, such as BWA, STAR, IGV, VARSCAN, GATK, ANNOVAR, IPA, etc.
- Knowledge of molecular biology preferred.
- Experience with statistical, spreadsheet, graphics and word-processing software packages.
- Foster and promote a positive image and professional appearance
- Collaborate on projects with others in the core and institution
- Compose presentations and manuscripts for publication
- Document methods, software and databases
